I want to capture movement and breathe life into the clay. “Slung Slabs” stretches textures and infuses clay with a permanent sense of movement. My art has a physical and surface skin motion.
Hand thrown stoneware Hand decorated with a special formulated thicken glaze when placed on the bisqueware and then fired will give the design a 3-D effect.
My work draws inspiration from the natural world, integrating contemporary design with organic form and texture. Clean lines of slab-built work are complemented by layers of glaze in natural colors.
I create functional and decorative woodfired pottery focusing on quality and a wide range of scale. I enjoy controlling all aspects of the process from clay to kilns to reduce any creative contraints.
Created by hand, on the potter’s wheel or by hand-building techniques. Carving, embossing & layering of glazes create unique surface patterns. Some pieces are adorned with semi-precious gemstones.
